The New Blog

 |   October 18 2011

I’m starting up a new tumblr. New, clean slate. Like this or send me a message, and I’ll follow you from my new account. This Tumblr will remain open, but I will no longer be posting on it. Thanks, guys, for all your love and support!

These are my rules I made for myself in order to avoid Them (Jon and Emily) at school and to help rid them from my life.

7:30-8:00 am: If early to school, prepare books and binders, organizing them according to class schedule. Use this time to look back over Western Thought homework or reading for in class quiz.

8-9 Western Thought II: In class, do not sit by Them. If asked why, say it is for class attention purposes. When invited to participate in conversation, do so sparingly. Polite or witty comments are acceptable, to a certain degree, but refrain from allowing any type of opening for a discussion with Them. Participate in class more and pay attention. Take thorough notes.

9-10 History: Although it may (will) be tempting, do not allow yourself to get pulled into whispered conversations with Them. They only want you around so that they have a friend and so they won’t be cut off from everyone else. Remember, they don’t care about you- just each other and themselves. I know that Mr. Clayton is dull, but do your best to pay attention to what he says and take notes until yours hand feels as though it is bleeding internally.

10-11 Composition and Literature/Rhetoric: Look, I know that Mrs. Gagnon is easy to drone out. However, keep eyes fixed on her, the board, or the clock. No glancing (even peripherally) toward Them. In fact, try sitting with someone else entirely. Thus eliminating any need to look at Them, which usually leads to violent or emotional thoughts. No need for tears.

11-12 Study Hall: Use this study hall to do homework. Preferably not at the same table as Emily. (Unsure if Andy, Christian, Michael, or Tyler can approach.) Keep away from Julia, too. You could do without her in your day. Claim that you need to focus on homework. Also use this time to eat lunch. Oh, and stop forgetting your iPod. Break this out if said people refuse to take a hint. This gives you an excuse to zone out, and it gives off that “Leave me alone” vibe.

12-1 Study Hall: Although a more difficult time slot than the last, do not converse with Jon. You must remain strong! Even if he approaches you, do what you can to avoid any sort of conversation. You do not want him in your life. Again, use iPod, do homework, write, read. It would be most prudent to not be at the same table as Jon, but I know that that is harder to do in this study hall with Jon than it was with Emily. But you can’t give him any slack. Just ignore him- no need to be vicious, but stay withdrawn. Engross yourself in whatever you’re doing. Go outside if possible is he doesn’t.

1-2 Chemistry: We both know that you really do need to pay more attention in this class. Take. Notes. Ask questions, read your book, bring your grade up! This should keep you from talking to Them, but if it doesn’t, then find something else to do. It should, though. Do not sit with Them.

2-3 French: Finally! A class free of Them! relax, keep doing what you’re doing, and just enjoy learning this language. Try not to let your mind wander. Focus on the teacher, do your homework, or review notecards.

3 End of school: Simple enough: Go home. Just leave. Pack up your things and walk out the door.

Follow these rules, and, in time, they will become a routine. Some days will be better than others. Keep at it. Don’t let up. Don’t give up. This is what’s best for everyone. Catalog data every Pep day. Perhaps in class or in study hall. You can do it!
